AddmySupport - About Us

The AddmySupport Logo

I’m Chris Davis and I founded Add My Support Ltd, the UK company behind AddmySupport.com. The company is registered in England No. 6540028

AddmySupport has been in development for two years to make it easy for anyone to find help, support each other and be part of a giant help and support network.

The site works by connecting anyone needing support to the best resources, people and organisations who can offer them help.

First of all...who is Chris Davis?

My First Team

One of the first teams I was part of. That's me down the front in the white Spurs kit.

Well I am someone who....

  • ...has lots of ideas, but gets really annoyed when I can’t get them off the ground. (I still think flying cars are the way forward!)
  • ...gets fed up with call centres putting me on hold and big businesses never listening to my complaints.
  • ...has tried to learn German for 15 years and still can’t order a cup of coffee with any guarantee that a hot dog won’t turn up!
  • ...always wanted to be a professional sportsman but wasn’t quite good enough to make it.
  • ...has tried to write five different novels but has never got past the first chapter.
  • ...wants to spend more time with his family, but is so busy working he doesn’t get the chance.

Yeah, a fairly normal sort of person. (I think!)

So where did the idea for AddmySupport come from? (Read more about this in the Press Section)

I started using Facebook and other online networks when they first launched. Who else remembers connecting with old school friends through Friends Reunited? The more I used these sites I realised they were a great place to tell people what you were up to when things were going well, but not so good when things weren’t going so well.

AddmySupport is a place where anyone can find help, whoever they are, wherever they live and whenever they need it.

I found the first time you asked for help or advice, people were quite keen to come back with something. But if you start asking for help every day, the offers soon dry up. It’s no surprise really - Facebook is a friend’s network. It helps you stay in touch with each other, but it was never designed to be more than that.

And we all do have problems. Whether it’s health, money, relationships, work, time or motivation. So what makes the difference between winning and losing, finishing a project or leaving it incomplete, an idea taking off or fading away, learning something new or giving up?

Why do some people seem to coast through life, unfazed by life’s challenges, while others seem to have to fight and struggle everyday just to keep going? I decided the difference is not in the individuals, but in the help and support they have available to them. Whether it’s from friends, family, colleagues, peers or from professionals and organisations.

An internet search engine is no replacement for that personal support. I’ve searched online for information on cancer and other serious illnesses when friends and family have had a bad diagnosis. It’s terrifying. Far better to talk to someone who can explain the positives as well as the negatives.

And that’s what AddmySupport is...

A place that offers help and support to anyone who needs it without prejudice. A place where anyone can find help whoever they are, wherever they live and whenever they need it.

It’s not always the serious stuff, though. By providing access to other people, organisations and resources that can help, AddmySupport now helps users get their ideas off the ground, complete projects, achieve their personal goals, learn new things, run their own campaigns and cope with life challenges.

It’s what I designed AddmySupport to be – a Help and Support Network connecting anyone needing support with others who can offer their help.

Initially I started out by creating a few support pages which brought together the best resources I could find into one place. I sent these support pages to friends and family to help them with a range of issues like learning to ski, coping with an illness, setting up a business, changing jobs, completing a DIY project and even trying to save a relationship. The people I sent them to found them really useful and things have developed from there.

AddmySupport is a UK limited company with some great support behind us. The site is set up on its own dedicated and secure servers and we are adding new features every day.
