Help raise awareness for Children's Art Day 2011: 6th July Event, Course, Workshop
Summary
Art is an important part of children’s development. For children, it’s a fun way of expressing themselves and developing their imagination. For parents, it’s an expression of their children’s talents, something they can display and keep as a remembrance of their children’s milestones. For teachers, it’s a tool to teach children everything from Maths to Languages. Even Child Psychologists use art to understand the children’s mental state and as a form of therapy. To encourage children, parents and teachers to appreciate the benefits in engaging with visual arts, 6th of July 2011 is appointed as Children’s Art Day.

Support the Cheltenham Town FC Double Club Support Page
Summary
The Double Club project aims to raise the confidence and ability levels of Key Stage 3 students in core subject areas, through the use of football themed resources. To further the roll out of the scheme the DCSF granted £7000 to Playing for Success Gloucestershire (PFS) to work in partnership with Cheltenham Town FC. The sessions are combined with a parallel programme of football coaching. The Double Club has a wide range of modules including Literacy, Numeracy, Science, French, Spanish, German, ICT, Geography, Cookery, Healthy Living, History, Business Studies, Architecture and Citizenship. Most of the modules are aimed at underachieving pupils at Key Stages 2 and 3 but are easily adaptable to suit other needs. The initial roll out of the scheme by the DCSF has involved 15 clubs and PFS centres through funding from the Department. International Youth Day Event, Course, Workshop
Summary
"We live in a decaying age. Young people no longer respect their parents. They are rude and impatient. .. And have no self-control." Sound like the youth of the 21st Century? No, this was an inscription on a 6000 year old Egyptian tomb as quoted by R. Buckminster Fuller's at I Seem to be a Verb. The United Nation (UN) defines youth as the ages between 15 to 24 and nearly 3 billion (almost half of the world population) fall into this category as of 2005. If the youth are decaying 6000 years ago, the world should be in anarchy by now. Luckily, despite the bad press they’re getting, the youth of today continues to provide positive contributions to society.

Children’s worries- what is natural and what is obsessive? Article
Summary
Worries are not the sole domain of adults. Children also have their own. Just because they haven’t a mortgage to pay or a demanding job doesn’t mean they don’t have worries or concerns. It’s just that as adults we are so wrapped in keeping our children safe, making sure they do well at school and saving pennies for their favourite pair of trainers we forget what really worries our children. We can often spot the physical symptoms of illness, a high temperature, a body rash, and coughs and colds but because children can be quite adept at hiding what stresses them we have to be able to try harder to read the common signs of childhood worries.
