A lot of the medical arthritis drugs can have pretty nasty side effects. Even an over the counter medicine like ibuprofen can cause stomach and digestive problems that can become serious. After having several allergic reactions to prescribed medicine, I've found two or three remedies and treatments that really help. Here's what works for me, but I'd love to know what helps other people.

Natural pain relief in arthritis

Here's what works for me:
KAT pain relief lotion is incredibly soothing, chemical free and non-drying. I rub it into my hands and wrists for an immediate relief.
You've probably read new research that says drinking a glass of red wine a day is good for all sorts of health problems, including arthritis. The reason is the antioxidant in grape skins - Resveratrol. You can buy it in capsule form. This, combined with cod liver oil and vegetarian glucosamine (to avoid shellfish allergy), is the best combination I've found to reduce pain and inflammation.
Acupuncture with the use of moxa has brought by far the biggest improvement. The needles, once in position, are topped with moxa which is then burnt. This is known as moxibustion and is an ancient form of Oriental medicine. Moxa is known to us a mugwort, artemisia vulgaris, the smoke smells a lot like cannabis and lingers after a treatment. You may need to explain yourself! It is a plant that can cause severe allergic reactions so it's definitely only for the experts - and for burning rather than inhaling.
Yoga, exercise and diet are probably the three lifestyle choices that are most important in keeping the affects of arthritis to a minimum

Thanks for setting this up- i am only 29 but i am wondering what i can do to help avoid arthritis later on.

I'll try anything once, even sacrificing a (small) part of my daily red wine intake for tablet form.
