When ordinary people marry, they invite friends and family to celebrate their big day but when a future King gets married it’s a different affair.
Today Prince William, the second heir to the throne, married Kate Middleton before over 2000 guests at Westminster Abbey and millions at home around the world. The day will be remembered in history and never failed to delight.
The service began at 11:00 with speakers playing the service to the thousands waiting outside to catch a glimpse of the happy couple. Williams parents wedding vows proved to be memorable moment with nervous Diana confusing Charles’ name, calling him Philip Charles Arthur George, rather than Charles Philip. With millions of eyes on them, the couple both delivered their lines beautifully.
The open-carriage procession to Buckingham Palace left the Abbey at 12:15. Spectators were excited to catch a first glimpse of the Royal couple and many had camped out the night before to ensure a prime spot on the procession route.
The newlyweds were presented on the palace balcony at 13:25 with a fly past from the RAF. The balcony scene never fails to provide an iconic image of the royal family together and Kate and William's two kisses were an iconic moment for all watching.
The couple will need a large wedding message book for their 2000 guests to write their well wishes. There certainly won’t be enough room for everybody else’s messages so we are putting together our own Royal Wedding Book of Support for the future King and his Queen.
